1.Tell us why anyone would want come to your hometown?
“No one is coming to save you. This life is 100% your responsibility!”

2.What are the (2) most important things in your closet and why?
Learning is what gets me out of bed, gives me energy and propels me forward. I read 2 to 3 books a week, took ballet with my daughter’s 13-year-old class, learned modern dance at the local college (while a babysitter watched my new nursing baby in the hall) and learned everything about yoga in the late 90s before it became popular. Including my children in the learning process via homeschooling keeps me on my toes.

3.What do you love to cook and why?
How to detect unethical persuasion, critical thinking skills, and how to avoid an “us versus them” mentality. When we think our way is the only right way to think, families, communities, and nations will be divided. Teaching terms like confirmation bias, closed versus open thinking, and healthy sharing of perspectives encourages us to recognize that we are all human. On a lighter note, I would also love teaching how to swim with a mermaid tail!

4.If you had an extra hour each day, what would you do?
I married at age 20 and had eight biological children with my husband of 26 years. For over 23 years, I was either pregnant or nursing. Now that my youngest is six, I have been able to rebuild my stamina, yoga strength and use my mind and creative energy to write value-based parenting books teaching topics I love. I feel like I am 46 living the life of a 25-year-old, the age of my oldest child!

5.Describe the dirtiest job you have ever had to do?
My favorite date night with my husband is reading together, ordering in food, followed by a jetted tub bath for two. Over the decades, we have read classics together such as Les Misérables, Moby Dick, Atlas Shrugged, Robinson Crusoe, A Tale of two Cities, Millionaire Next Door, The Divine Comedy, Sapiens, books by Hawthorne, Dickens, Steinbeck and biblical studies. We are currently reading War and Peace during our weekly date night and no kids allowed!
